The Poinsettia - Official Plant of Christmas December 23 2014
History
The Poinsettia has a long, interesting history. Many Christmas plants are associated with the holiday, however, the Poinsettia has some surprising, deep historical roots. For example: that lovely plant you place in your home every December was once used as a fever cure! The Aztecs used the plant for practical purposes, as they did with many elements of nature. They extracted purple dye from it for use in cosmetics, and its milky white sap was used to treat fevers. The flower was introduced to the United States from Mexico by J. R. Poinsett in the early 1800s.
Name
Scientific Name: Euphorbia pulcherrima
Common Name(s): Poinsettia, Christmas flower
Uncommon Name(s): Mexican flame leaf, lobster flower plant
Uses and Pharmacology
The plant's white sap has been used for pain relief and antibacterial.
They make great gifts for friends and family, and a lovely addition to your own home decor.

A Fairytale Come True November 24 2014
Sean and Sarah
Sioux City, IA - October 24, 2014
Being in a Disney movie isn't the only way to find true love. Sean and Sarah are living proof of that. According to the newly married couple, true love can be found at a high school football game in Nothwest Iowa.
In November of 2013, after 6 years of going steady, Sean had a secret plan in the works. He led Sarah to the top of the Ho-Chunk Centre in Sioux City where she was greeted by a maze she needed to complete before her future husband could drop down on one knee and propose.
Along with true love comes a beautiful wedding. The newly-engaged couple only had 11 months to begin planning their celebratory day. With a little help from Sean, Sarah managed to plan her dream wedding the way she had always envisioned it.
Sean and Sarah's vision came to life on October 24, 2014 in the Immaculate Conception Church in Sioux City, IA. Anyone who attended the wedding was able to be a part of something very special. With a full sanctuary full of family and friends, the couple stood before each other and exchanged their long-awaited vows. Following the wedding, their reception was located at the Stoney Creek Inn where the celebration of the newly-wed began.
Decorated in florals by Sunnybrook Flower Shop, the entire wedding scenery was phenomenal. After being together for over 7 years, Sean and Sarah can now enjoy the married life.
